Director, Perioperative Services
Reporting to the Vice President of Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer, this position is responsible for the overall direction of the Surgery Department, PACU, Ambulatory Infusion Center (temporary), GI Lab, CPD and Center for Surgical and Specialty Care. The current role oversees approximately 150 employees and manages a budget of approximately $44 million. There are 12 OR suites, Biplane hybrid neurosurgical suite which covers 11,000 square feet and two Davinci Surgical Systems. The Director has oversight and responsibility for all financial, managerial, strategic, and clinical objectives. The Director directs, plans, and develops all aspects of quality patient care to achieve clinical and service excellence. The Director ensures staff development, performance, and competence, staffing patterns, performance improvement, capital and operating budgeting, and internal and external marketing and communication for the department. This position is accountable to county, state, and federal agencies in addition to other external regulatory agencies for maintaining compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards.

- Quickly build trust, rapport and credibility with staff, leaders and physicians throughout the organization
- Evaluate the department (staff, policies and procedures) in order to identify strengths and weaknesses and develop recommended solution plans accordingly
- Clearly communicate goals, objectives and expectations to staff and hold all parties accountable

- Look for opportunities to grow the business while at the same time improving outcomes and the overall patient & family experience
- Encourage and mentor staff within the Department to self-motivate and realize their maximum potential

- Effectively manage workload and develop appropriate staffing levels to meet the unique needs of the organization
- Maintain a positive work environment, keep turn-over low and be a key part of maintaining a union-free environment
- Lead the department in reestablishing its elective surgeries
- Work closely with Anesthesia to improve pre-op assessment
- Improve efficiency of pre-op Educators
- Reinvigorate Professional Practice Council (shared governance)
- Apply the successful orthopedic model to General and GYN surgeries
- Work closely with the Materials Management Director to decrease costs of implants and overall cost of care
- Improve efficiencies of Infusion staff
